I am a longtime reader of Debbie Macomber and was looking forward to reading this new title.
Silver Linings is part of her Cedar Cove Rose Harbor series and features
three main female characters: Jo Marie Rose, a widow and owner of the Rose Harbor Inn; and Coco Crenshaw and Katie Gilroy, friends who are staying at the Inn during their 10-year high school reunion.
I didn't enjoy this title as much as I thought I would. The main character, Jo Marie, is confused when her handyman--who has become a good friend--suddenly says he loves her and then says he is leaving town. This was confusing to me as well; there wasn't enough back story on these
two characters to make me care about them at all.
The two high school friends, Coco and Katie, feature more prominently in the book. These characters have realistic baggage from their high school days that they want to unload at the high school reunion.
Everyone gets their "happily ever after," but I really didn't care. That is expected from this author, but Silver Linings
isn't as "warm and fuzzy" as some of her other books.
