After a run-of-the-mill business presentation runs amok, account executive Emma Corrigan finds herself on an unusually turbulent plane ride next to a handsome stranger. As she contemplates the business meeting she fears will end her career and the plane ride she fears will end her life, she aimlessly spews her deepest and darkest secrets to the man by her side. Within a matter of a minutes she divulges everything about herself—including how she lost her virginity, her discomfort with a G-string, her real clothing size, and her concerns about long-time boyfriend Connor.

When the plane lands safely and Emma is adoringly welcomed by Connor, she revels in the possibility that her bad luck has come to an end, but, unfortunately, her sense of relief is short-lived. Upon her return to work, she learns that her unsuspecting travel companion was Jack Harper, the CEO of Panther Cola, the company for whom she works. As Jack tours her workplace, Emma immediately finds herself surrounded by aggressive employees vying for even an introduction to the CEO, a man she unknowingly revealed her innermost thoughts to just hours before. As the story unfolds, she struggles to find a balance between her workplace persona as an entry-level employee assigned to ensuring the CEO’s coffee is hot and food is prepared to his liking, and the reality that this man’s personal knowledge about her far surpasses what she has shared with her boyfriend, family and close friends.

As both Emma and Jack struggle to reconcile their perceived workplace relationship with the events of their plane ride, they find themselves enjoying one another’s company. Almost immediately a hilarious and often tumultuous relationships ensues. Jack has the upper hand in their relationships since not only is he the CEO of the company that employs Emma, but he has the advantage of knowing her deepest secrets even before their first date. Emma, on the other hand, is committed to proving her value to the company and earning a promotion while she struggles to make Jack, an introverted man who values his privacy, reveal his secrets just as she did on the cross-Atlantic plane where they first met.

To maximize your enjoyment of Can You Keep A Secret?, you will have to suspend your belief in reality. However, as long as you don’t ask “what are the chances of that happening?” you will find yourself enjoying a light-hearted and funny read that will keep you guessing (and smiling) right until the very end.
