Shadow Bound
is an interesting story from this new author, a tale not at all predictable that
strikes an enjoyable balance of menace and danger with a touch of romance.
Although most people still think the world is normal, there is an ever-growing group of immortals, known as 'wraiths', who are sucking the life from humans. Adam Thorne founded the Segue Institute to try to deal with the problem - specifically to try to either kill or cure his brother, who is a wraith.
In searching for clues as to what's happening, he has come across the name 'Shadowman' a few times.
When a PhD Thesis also mentions Shadowman, Adam wants to get the author to work with him.
The thing is, Talia O'Brien has disappeared. When Adam finally finds her, saving her life from a wraith at the same time, he realizes
that she is more than just someone who has done lots of research to write her thesis. Talia has something special about her, but can she defeat the wraiths? And can Adam keep her safe - and alive?
Shadow Bound
is an enjoyable book with twists and turns in the story, changes of location and situation, and the aforementioned romance. The author has a good way of telling the story and making the characters interesting.
While I didn't always entirely understand Talia and what was happening with her, it
is a good read overall, presumably the start of a series.
