Rockstar's ABC Book of Meditation & Memories is a self-help book where the reader, not some fit and tan guru, creates the steps toward becoming a better person.

The book uses inspirational quotes along with memories and thoughts from the author to inspire the reader to ponder, meditate or pray. The reader is then free to use the pages upon pages of blank space to create their own book. Write, draw - you could even tear out a piece and create origami. Whatever you want to do.

The "ABCs" of meditations and memories are used to give the book some kind of linear design. "A is for Angels" and "N is for Never Say Never" are just some of the section titles to focus the reader on specific thoughts and ideas. The book becomes what the reader wants it to become. Anyone looking to be told the answer should look elsewhere; you have to figure it out for yourself this time. This is a refreshing twist to self-help. While the author can be ham-fisted at times, you know she is genuine.

Andrea Warren Rand was able to pull her life around using these methods. She is hardly a writer (she's actually a real estate agent), and you may find her chosen quotes to be unhelpful, but that doesn't matter. Her heart is in the right place. Rand has created a little book that could do good things, as long as you are willing to put in the effort to get the benefits.
