Ella Mae’s homemade pies have made people cry blueberry-colored tears, remember their first loves, and strip off their clothes. All the emotions Ella Mae’s been feeling since she discovered that her husband has been cheating on her have made their way into the pies she sells at her new shop.
Ella Mae belongs to a family of ‘gifted’ woman, so it’s no surprise her business is a success. She becomes known for more than her baking, though, when she is accused of murdering a corrupt equine vet with a rolling pin and suffocating a local hero with a lemonade pie. After some vigilant sleuthing with a family friend, Ella Mae is able to clear her name and put an end to a fraudulent business practice that endangers the health of racehorses.
Readers who want a little magic mixed in with their mystery and romance may enjoy Pies and Prejudice. The story ends with five recipes and a preview of Adams’s second book in this series, Peach Pies and Alibis.
