Unbridled lust and kick-ass action are the hallmarks of this first novel in a brand-new paranormal series by Australian novelist Keri Arthur. Putting her own spin on the vampire and werewolf legends of yore, Arthur introduces readers to the Melbourne Directorate of Other Races, a kind of all-in-one police, judge and executioner for the supernatural creatures. Riley Jenson and her twin brother, Rhoan, were born half-vampire, half-werewolf - a rare, ostracized trait that makes them uniquely qualified to work for the Directorate. Her lack of killer instincts mean Riley isn’t a guardian like her brother, but her nose for trouble is as all well-honed as Rhoan’s.

Which is why Riley senses that her twin is in trouble long before the Directorate lists him as missing. When a sexy, amnesiac and very naked vampire turns up on her doorstep asking for help, Riley remains wary despite an overwhelming attraction. Riley and Quinn’s investigation takes them into the bizarre world of illegal cloning/splicing of paranormal creatures ,and soon the villains are after them. Icy danger and raw lust permeate the air as the full moon draws nearer and Riley’s hyper-sensitive werewolf blood compels her into a sexual frenzy of mating - a fact that doesn’t endear her to Quinn, who has already been heartbroken once by a werewolf lover.

Keri Arthur’s new volume starts off with a bang. “Sizzling” is the only word to describe this heated, action-filled, suspenseful romantic drama with an authentic Australian air. Paranormal creatures of various kinds, agendas and powers heighten the tension and comprise an intriguing cast of characters, although Riley and Quinn have got to be the most unusual lead pair ever, as evidenced by not only their differing genealogy but also the uncertain quality of their togetherness and varying feelings. This, together with the non-stop pace of action, keeps readers on their toes in constant suspense. Using the full moon’s siren call as a lure, Arthur soaks the pages in uninhibited lust - Riley’s perpetual bedroom antics with multiple partners ensure the pages remain breathtakingly scorching. Full Moon Rising sets a high bar for what is now a much-anticipated new series.
