This is the sixth edition of this book, first published in 1994, full of all kinds of information on international trade. The first quarter of the book is devoted to terms with short definitions or explanations. Following this are lists and more lists - of abbreviations and acronyms connected with world trade, of international telephone access codes, of world currencies, of related computer terms, of resources including books, directories, and Internet websites - a glossary of weights and measures, a guide to letters of credit with descriptions and examples, and a guide to trade documents with descriptions and examples.

Other sections include a collection of various kinds of ships involved in global trade and a guide to ocean freight containers with illustrations and descriptions. A list of seaports, arranged by country, includes longitudinal and latitudinal locations as well as other pertinent information. Ten thousand international airports are catalogued, and a section on security matters in connection with global trading. The book concludes with a chart of key words in eight languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese) and with several color maps of the world.

Edward G. Hinkelman is the author of Diccionario de Comercio Internaciona (2004), Importers Manual USA (2003), Global Road Warrior (2003), A Short Course in International Payments (2002), A Short Course in International Trade Documentation (2001), Philippine Business (1995), and other co-authored books on international trade. He is editor of the World Trade Press Country Business Guide Series and has 25 years of practical experience in international trade.

Those involved in or studying international trade will find this volume informative – and the illustrations are a useful additions to the descriptions. This is a great business reference source.
