Up-and-coming author Stacia Kane puts a fun twist on the urban fantasy genre with Demon Inside, a great sequel to Personal Demons. With the next installment, Demon Possessed, due out in early 2010, anticipation is high for where Kane will take her likeable protagonist and the building tensions in the demon world. Kane
also has another successful romantic urban fantasy series successfully progressing
in addition to contributing to a couple of collaborative works of vampire fiction.
Demon Inside is go-go-go right from the start. The demon world is in a state of dangerous turmoil, and the mystery behind it all is endless. Psychologist Megan Chase is new to ruling over a demon territory, and this deadly development is not good for business. Attacks upon her demons
seriously threaten her rule from both inside and out, and being a mere human makes her authority less assertive than
that of her full-demon counterparts. With such weaknesses already cutting into her power, how is she going to protect those that don’t want her to begin with?
Trouble escalates with the death of a major player in the demon world and the
onset of many individuals, both demon and other paranormal, beginning to perish at the hands of an unknown foe. Demons belonging to other ruling figures are victims of this evilness,
but Megan is the ultimate target of this unknown, powerful enemy bent on the destruction of
not only the demon world but human civilization as well.
The key to unraveling the mystery and finding the source of this treachery
lies in Megan’s past, a past filled with more hurt and deceit than any one person should have to endure
but over which Megan somehow prevailed. When the layers of lies are pulled back and the raw truth finally revealed, only Dr. Megan Chase can fight the enemy threatening them all—but will she be the victor?
Demon Inside is rich with
an entertaining plot, characters, and humor, a real treasure for readers looking for an
exciting change of pace. Newcomers to the series won't have any difficulty picking up the storyline or complexity of the characters previously established in the first novel. Demon Inside is a witch’s brew of devilish fun!
