The latest collection of steamy stories from author Joan Elizabeth Lloyd promises sizzle and spark, but all it left me with was annoyance and discontent.
These three and a half, sometimes four-page stories are common and unoriginal:
the too-short scenes I read I have already done. Make that 90% of America has already done, so that makes the stories truly not entertaining. Isn't the thrill in the forbidden, in the unknown?
Let's take for example the woman who explores herself in the bathtub with a bar of soap and other inanimate objects. Please! That has been done over and over again by various females, not to mention males.
Oh, and there's the story about the robot female doll who is built to pleasure her owner. And just like real live men, when he gets tired of the older version of the doll, he trades it in/upgrades to a younger version.
Okay, here's another story. A submissive wife, the husband likes to watch porn. The wife catches him watching it one night, the husband asks if the wife if she will perform on him like the woman is performing on the man in the video. Oral sex. Big woop-dee-doo. This storyline has been done over and over again; the problem with this one? There is no twist, no sexual dialogue between them, no spark to make the reader think that they really are a married couple in love. It's just:
Husband: Do you think you can do what she's doing to me?
Wife: (gasps,covers her mouth) I don't think I can!
Husband: of course you can, why don't you try?
I'm not kidding. That's the way the dialougue goes - of course, it's not word for word, but you get the idea.
Oh man. I don't think I even finished with the stories, they were so… blah. The tales were not at all erotic for me personally, nor did they turn me on. Maybe I just like steamier, dominant reads, and maybe this was the only work of Ms. Lloyd's
doesn't work for me. I would recommend this book to women who would like to explore their wilder side, women who have never even found their hands roving down south and know that something is missing out of their life sexually. Well, guess what? Explore. It truly will open your eyes.
