Emma Harte struggles to rise above her situation of poverty and despair to become a force to reckon with in international business. With brains and beauty, she turns her small shop into an international empire: Harte Enterprises.

Always looking for love and never really finding it for long (think Bonanza), Emma turns her focus to her business and makes it her entire life when it is threatened by those closest to her she turns vicious and enacts a devastating revenge.

I read this book originally years ago and all the subsequent expansions on the Harte family. Fantastic writing and excellent storytelling make this one of the best rags-to-riches stories ever told. A little romance, adventure, and suspense enrich a solid plot like spices to a fine piece of meat.

This is a definite buy for anyone who likes a fine story well told, especially if you believe that by staying positive; making thoughtful, sound decisions; and working hard you can become whatever you want.
