Bodyguard-falls-in-love-with-client is hardly an original plot idea (Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner spring to mind). However, this is I Will Always Love You with a difference - the difference being that our hero, at least, is immortal. A mixture of vampire and demon, he's feeling jaded with his world and hoping to change career; babysitting
reclusive author Ellina Kostova should bring him the money he needs to finally give up the violent life of a bodyguard.
Only Ellina is a bit different than your average woman, being a half-demon. She doesn't think she's in danger, but there are plenty of people around who don't like her and
someone seems to be stalking her. When her brother employs Jude Anthony to work as her bodyguard, she
resists - until she gets a good look at him.
What a Demon Wants is all pretty predictable. The
main focus on Jude and Ellina and their interactions makes pretty obvious who the stalker
is among the sparse group of secondary characters. I didn't find this book particularly convincing and neither character
is particularly strongly drawn, but it's an okay read for a quiet evening.
