This is an extraordinary history and pictorial written and assembled by all four members of
The Clash: Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon. These punk catalysts started it all back in 1976, and those beginnings as well as the entire evolution of the band throughout its disintegration in 1983 is covered.
The quartet has ransacked their own archives to pull up photos and handbills and posters and ticket stubs and a lot more in order to create this unique package. The oversized format allows for brilliant color and black-and-white photographs to be presented in tremendous quality and clarity. Through their own words and memories and recollections, the reader is given a front-row peek into the lives of these groundbreaking musicians.
Guitarist Joe Strummer died in December 2002 and never got to see this book. But lucky for us all, we are able to see who he was and what he gave to the music world
- and it's all here in this inspired collection.
