Taylor and Jake Montgomery have the perfect life: fabulous high-powered careers, a red-hot sex life, and no plans whatsoever to have children
- until Taylor discovers she’s pregnant. She dreads telling Jake and ruining their idyllic life, so she puts off the inevitable
for as long as she can. When he finally discovers the news, he is obviously stunned and not sure what to think. As the months progress, the couple moves through their rocky period, but other problems surface. How can the couple mesh their old and new lives? Can their careers and their marriage survive?
The Stork Reality is a sweet mom-lit novel filled with humor and many moments that will hit close to home. It
is an intriguing look at how a couple becomes a family, all of the changes that must take place in every aspect of their lives. Taylor and Jake are very real characters. Their reactions seem exactly right for each situation. I was a little frustrated at how long it takes Taylor to tell Jake about the pregnancy;
the book really bogs down in that section and the pace is quite slow. Yet after he finds out, the pace picks up throughout the rest of the novel.
The Stork Reality will greatly appeal to those who have children or are thinking about having children. Many of the details about pregnancy and childbirth will be boring to those who don’t have that frame of reference. There are quite a few introspective moments that help give depth to the plot and increase the enjoyment of the reading. The Stork Reality is a delightful book that will help readers understand how a family is formed.
