Author Victoria Redstall is a petite blonde with a charming English accent, and definitely not the type of person you'd ever imagine would be hanging out with serial killers and psycho murderers. But that's
exactly what she does. Here in this memoir she talks about spending time with five very sick and demented individuals. Redstall managed to charm and finagle her way into interviews with Wayne Adam Ford (Killer with a Conscience); Keith Hunter Jesperson (The Happy Face Killer); Gary Ray Bowles (Rollin' On a River of Fear); Robert 'Bobby Joe' Joseph Long (The Streetwalker Slayer); and Robin Gecht (The Alleged Chicago Ripper).
Redstall has
pried open the innermost thoughts of these depraved souls after more than 10 years
of studying these monsters and trying to figure out why they do the things they do. The tales here are indeed haunting. Ford, the first serial killer
Redstall ever spent time with, was accused of mutilating and then killing four
women in a one-year period. Jesperson was accused of killing eight women, and Long was convicted of killing nine women and raping at least 50 others.
The author has done her homework and spent considerable time in learning about the animals
she writes about. Parts of this book are pretty brutal in its descriptions of what the killers
did to their victims, but it is real and honest. If you ever wanted to find out what was swimming inside the head of a demon, you should read this.
