Upstanding Jane Fenton lost her brother four years ago to the underground; consequently, she has
also lost her home. Nicholas Stoneworth is a notorious brawler with a reputation to match who has just found out that his brother, the current viscount,
is dead and that he now must assume the position. Both have to rebuild their lives and step back into society. Jane has found employment as a ladies' companion,
but what of Nicholas?
Nicholas is now a viscount and
in the years since his brother died has spent his new life the way he lived his old: disorderly and uncivilized. A chance meeting at a ball
bears fruit: Jane has heard that Nicholas was notorious in the underground, so who better to help find her brother?
For payment, Jane makes a proposal to Nicholas. In exchange for her helping him become civilized, Nicholas
will go back into dangerous territory and find out if Jane's brother is still alive. During both their journeys, they
will have to fight their attraction while battling society's rules about who can love whom.
Jenna Peterson is a new author for me, but I find her refreshing and outstanding. I look forward to her next book.
