An anger management course brings three women together to form friendships and experience personal growth in Mood Swing. Susan is the nice person in the group and is saddled with low self-esteem. A hard-working E.R. nurse and single mother, she has not started dating since her divorce a year and a half ago, although her ex is already engaged to another woman. Meanwhile, Susan feels pulled in different directions, exhausted between working and raising a sulky teenager. Susan winds up in the court-ordered anger management course when she goes a step too far in turning down a nerdy man who wants to date her and will not take “no” for answer.

Tonya is the sassy one of the trio, a hair salon owner who hails from Texas. Tonya has been around the block when it comes to cheating husbands, and when she suspects her husband of cheating on her, she gets into a huge fight with him. Her aggressiveness leads to her required attendance in the anger management course. Tonya is a force to be reckoned with, and she is seething over her husband’s infidelity.

Last but not least is Monica, a poised and polished-looking executive assistant who has relied on her looks to get ahead in the workplace. She is willing to sleep her way up the corporate ladder. Sadly, Monica’s efforts have not gotten her far. When her boss gives her promised promotion to a younger woman, Monica throws a potted plant through the windshield of his Hummer, landing her in the anger management course.

The three women strike up a friendship and start meeting for a weekly drink. Tonya and Monica give Susan a makeover and some much-needed confidence for her to get to know the Human Resources Director at the hospital, a man she has pined after for ages. Monica gets a new job working at the hospital thanks to Susan’s recommendations, and she now has a legitimate position with no strings attached. Tonya’s hurdle is to work through her relationship problems with her husband, and Susan and Monica are there for support.

Mood Swing is a novel about friendship and the fact that no one is perfect - and that life can throw us unexpected punches. Learning to roll with the punches and learning a lesson along the way is one of the messages of Mood Swing, as well is the fact that self-respect, faith and confidence will help one go a long way in life.
