This is a workman's guide to understanding what is required (electronically-speaking) to be successful in the fields of audio, video and
multimedia recording. The author has breaks down the information to deliver
in as simple a fashion as possible the concepts, techniques, and tools you
need to know to make a go of it in the abovementioned areas of employment.
At the heart of it, these are complex theories to understand and, like
anything else, require years of study and practical application to learn
them. Author Alden Hackmann explains in his intro, There will be
frustrating moments along the way, and you probably will make some mistakes
that make the problem worse rather than making it better. This is called
experience, and there isn't an electronics tech in the world who hasn't done
this. Despite these moments of annoyance, or in fact because of them, the
skills you learn here will lead you down the path to a better understanding
of how all of this gear functions, how to care for it so that it will last
longer and behave better, and what tools to buy if u want to start working
more seriously on your own gear or someone else's.
The chapters are broken down to include everything from the tools you'll
need and basic soldering skills to building circuits on breadboards,
understanding AC voltage, the resistor code, Watt's Law, and much more. One
overriding approach to this material is the minimal applications of math in
tackling these subjects.
Nothing in life is easy, but having this book as your main reference source
will make your electronic pursuits infinitely less complicated.
