Dreams of Destiny is about what happens when a young beautiful heiress and a shameless rouge get together and go on a dangerous adventure from which they might not return.

Gweyneth Douglas is a Scottish heiress who lives in London and writes under a pen name in order to protect her identity and her fortune. Her secret has been safe for some time, but suddenly a blackmailer enters the picture intending to ruin her life by telling everyone who she really is and what she is doing. Feeling that she has no other choice, she turns to an old family friend - which turns out to be a mistake. Sir Allan is a penniless baronet who will stop at nothing to get his greedy hands on Gwenyneth’s inheritance, and that includes murder.

David Pennington seems on the surface to not care about anyone or anything since he was hurt by scandal and the mysterious death of his sister-in-law. But when he finds that Gwyneth plans to elope, he becomes involved to protect her from the greedy Sir Allan who only wants to marry her for her money.

David insinuates himself into Gweyneth’s journey to Scotland in order to protect her. On the trip, he realizes that the passion they had shared in the past has grown stronger in him, and he hopes the feelings are mutual. Once they arrive in Scotland, they realize that they are in terrible danger. It soon becomes clear to them that if they want to be together, they must overcome the evil that looms over their lives.

As always, May McGoldrick’s plot is woven tightly, bound together by the fleshed-out characters and the excellent dialogue. The setting is Scotland, and if readers did not want to go there before reading this book, they will want to after reading it. McGoldrick has done it again. She has written a breath-taking novel that any romance lover will adore reading.
