With quotes from numerous celebrated women, Varla Ventura's Wild Women Talk about Love reminds us what love does to a heart. When love leaves a heart, love is sometimes mocked; bad memories prompt biting remarks from a few women. But for others, the wonder of love will always be there.

On the other hand, Cameron Diaz, one of the actresses quoted in this book, has some fun with the topic: “I’d kiss a frog even if there was no promise of a Prince Charming popping out of it. I love frogs.” Happily, many women are able to say something positive about love. In the chapter "Love is Fabulous," you’ll read quotes such as “Love is smiling on the inside and out” and a short story about true love on the ice. Each of the six chapters in this newest book in the Wild Women series has at least one small inspiring story and a sampling of additional quotes or a short list- each delving into another aspect of love. The two or three quotes per page are all identified by their author and written on cream-colored paper with reddish-pink text. The few illustrations in the book are of various pink shaded leaves or abstracted-shaped, pink-tinged hearts that introduce or end some of the quotes. Varla Ventura, the author of Sheroes: Bold, Brash, and Absolutely Unabashed Superwomen, succeeds here in shining light upon the pleasures and pains of love.

I recommend this book, in which the advice and opinions of these women can be read for fun, or they can be taken to heart.
