The Black Sheep Knitters are back in another puzzling yarn!
Gloria Sterling isn’t an official member of the Black Sheep knitters, but she is an avid needlewoman. She’s also rich, glamorous, and happily married to Jamie the boy toy. After hosting the Black Sheep meeting in her luxurious home, she endears herself to Suzanne by enlisting her to help in selling the near-palace and in buying another equally-substantial property – providing a much-needed commission for Suzanne.
It’s the deal of a lifetime for any real estate agent, but when Suzanne brings potential buyers over for a showing, they find Gloria’s dead body floating in the pool. The police call it an accident, the result of alcohol and prescription pills. The Black Sheep aren’t so sure, and they set out to unravel the tangled threads of Gloria’s life. Her grieving young husband certainly seems devastated by the loss, but he stands to inherit all of Gloria’s considerable fortune. A ruthless business partner was thwarted by Gloria and shows all the traits of a man willing to do anything to get his own way. And before Jamie, there was another husband whose first wife has probably never forgiven Gloria for breaking up their marriage. Any of these people could have wanted Gloria dead, and as the Black Sheep investigate, it becomes clear that their kind and dear friend had more than one side to her personality – and more than one enemy.
Canadeo’s knitting-inspired series delivers a character for everyone: Goth-dressing Phoebe; divorced and dating Lucy; working wife and mom Suzanne; medical professional Dana; and widowed business-owner Maggie. It’s a diverse bunch of sleuths, and that’s just what it takes to solve small-town crime – someone who knows everyone involved. The second in a series, Knit, Purl, Die will appeal to cozy lovers and crafters and offers bonus recipes and knitting patterns after the mystery is resolved.
