Jillee and Michael D-Angelo are happy together. With Papa Joe's business expanding, they have nothing to complain about, especially since Jillee brings in an income from teaching. On the morning Michael and his brother, Antonio, intend to talk to the bank about acquiring a loan, Michael is involved in a fatal accident. Although he hangs on, his injuries finally end his fight for life.

Deciding she can't perform at a hundred percent in her job, Jillee takes a leave of absence shortly after the funeral. Even in her grief, Jillee thinks of her husband's family and helps them get the loan they need to expand. Only one is against the plan, for he knows Michael wasn't all that he seemed. But then, he knows who Stephanie is -- and Jillee has no clue. Even so, Jillee was Michael's wife at his death and no other could claim that right, even if Michael had planned something different.

Shortly after, Jillee goes to Hawaii with her friend, Susan. Here they meet their future husbands. Believing her new friend is a lowly chauffeur, Jillee relaxes, for she does not want another relationship based solely on money. Her money. Ironically, Mark Akuna doesn't need or want her money but is concerned about the strange occurrences happening to Jillee.

Mark and Brad decide to visit Jillee and Susan. When Susan agrees to go back to Hawaii with Brad, Mark stays on in the mainland and begins to renew his relationship with Jillee. Here they realize someone is really trying to harm Jillee. Contacting the police, they determine there is only one person who could benefit from Jillee's death.

Unfortunately, they are wrong.

Strider has woven a tale full of suspense in Hold on to My Heart. With a lot of dialogue the plot moves steadily forward in an attempt to capture the bad guy. This is a quick read just perfect for readers who enjoys a good mystery intermingled with a woman no longer sure who she is and a man intent on showing her.
