Heavy metal and monster movies: they just seem to go together. Here, in what is absolutely the most carefully and extensively researched book to ever come out on the subject, McPadden dives headfirst into the marriage of metal music and monster movie.

Covered here are movies, documentaries, videos and pornographic films dating back to the 1970s. Some of the titles written about include Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects, all The Exorcist movies, Dahmer vs. Lacy, The Passion of the Christ, The Legend of Boggy Creek and many hundreds more. Here is an excerpt from a piece about the animated film called Heavy Metal:

With a theme song by The Eagles' Don Felder and prominent soundtrack selections by Devo and Stevie Nicks, Heavy Metal looks more metal than it sounds, but it feels even more metal than it looks. This animated anthology of pornographically flesh-drenched, skull-crushingly hyperviolent science-fiction mind-blowers is as absolutely metal as movies get. This is the final destination in animation for monster-jugged nympho maidens, human sacrifice, hints of Chthulu, barbarian swordplay, fatal space exploration, robot-bimbo sex, furry alien narcotic use, and a way-out cartoon sequences set to Dio-era Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, and Grand Funk Railroad. Plus the main character is a sinister talking rock!
McPadden is a colorful and inventive writer, and he loves to hear himself write. He is the absolute last word on heavy metal movies. If you've ever watched a film and heard some song in the background but never knew who it was, all you need to do is take a look here and you'll undoubtedly find the answer. The graphics depicting posters and movie art are terrific.

You'll never watch a monster film the same way after reading Heavy Metal Movies.
