Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has once again taken up the pen to write a
cautionary tale about the foibles, follies and f**kups inherent in being a
human being. In his third book, the rock singer-turned-author takes aim at
the things that bother him: childish behavior in restaurants; the torture of
air travel; horrific clothing choices; and dangerously stupid drivers.
Taylor is vicious in his attacks and leaves withered landscapes wherever he
turns his gaze. Here is a brief excerpt about his toxic relationship with
bad drivers: I drive a lot. Making the new Slipknot album, I had to drive
in California a lot, which is like going in for a f**king enema every other
day. When I drive, I pay attention, which means I watch people all the time.
I watch people wander out into traffic to cross the street whether they're
on the corner or not, and they're always on their phones, staring at the
screen. Whenever I see people not paying attention to their surroundings and
completely glued to their s**tty little life suckers, my toe unconsciously
inches toward the gas pedal. That's how ferocious I get.
A bit acerbic but funny as hell. Taylor doesn't care who he pisses off in
his longing to tell his own truth. This is a fascinating and funny book from
a man who puts on a mask everyday and screams at the top of his lungs in
front of thousands of people. He might seem a strange person to take advice from,
but you may learn a few things here along the way.
