Maryanne Raphael asked Blessed Teresa’s permission to write a biography of her; she gave permission with the emphasis, as she always did, to make sure the work of her various orders were presented. Raphael divides this book into two parts, the first and longer part covering the life of Blessed Teresa, the second part about Raphael’s experiences with Blessed Teresa, her order, and the other organizations all over the world who supported her and her ministry in various ways.
Raphael covers Blessed Teresa’s life on up to 2007 and mentions Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light (2007) about Blessed Teresa’s dark night of the soul compiled by Blessed Teresa’s postulator, Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk. This book was published to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Blessed Teresa’s death.
Raphael relates the biography in an entertaining narrative that keeps the reader’s attention, providing many facts about Blessed Teresa’s life on a very personal level. The second part is on a personal level, too, since it involves Raphael’s own life and her connection with Blessed Teresa and her orders and organizations.
Raphael includes a four-page bibliography. This book is highly recommended to those interested in the life of Blessed Teresa and her orders and organizations.
