Mylie Ford, assistant to the most famous wedding planner in the country, gets the news that she will be spearheading the wedding of two very famous stars—Celia Tyranova and Kick Lyons. The catch? Everything is completely secret, and Mylie isn’t allowed to tell anyone what she is working on. The meetings are in secret, the plans have a bunch of alternatives, and the paparazzi aren’t having anything to do with the secrecy - they follow Mylie everywhere.

When she isn’t dealing with the wedding, she’s trying to balance the demands of Zoe, the celebrity couple, and everything else that continues to happen. She meets Russell, a chef, who Mylie dreams of falling in love with, were it not for his incorrigible daughter who wants Mylie out of the picture. Can Mylie get this wedding together and hopefully find love herself?

It's Not My Wedding (But I'm in Charge) is a fun, lighthearted look at celebrity weddings and the incalculable work that goes into planning a wedding in general. Mylie is an extremely likeable character, which makes the book more enjoyable than it would be otherwise. In contrast, most of the other characters are not ones a person would want to spend much time with.

The romantic angle of the storyline takes somewhat of a backseat to the other goings-on; the plot would have been stronger had it carried through the story more prominently. For chick lit, It's Not My Wedding (But I'm in Charge) will fit the bill for those looking for a pleasant, almost tabloid-like read and look into celebrity wedding planning.
