Where do you turn to rescue someone when there's little chance of success?
The answer is 'Last Chance Rescue,' a shadowy organization whose operatives work around the world recovering hostages and more.
When Gabe Maddox is tasked to rescue Skylar James from kidnappers, things are a bit different. Firstly, she's actually his wife (although they haven't seen each other for eight years and were only actually together a few weeks).
Secondly, Skylar's kidnapping has brought to light the disappearances of various young women over some time.
Skylar is a famous fashion model who knows that keeping that a secret from Gabe when they first met was a mistake.
Now they have another chance - a completely unexpected opportunity - but can Gabe forgive Skylar for giving up on him?
Although I enjoyed No Chance, I didn't find it particularly convincing.
Certain areas of the plot are glossed over (people seemed to be rescued remarkably easily), and it relies
too heavily on some coincidences. Skylar's devotion to the woman she is mentoring, Kendra, seems over-the-top, and I wasn't entirely persuaded by the love story aspect, either. However, some interesting moments and side characters
who seem to have more life in them than our main hero and heroine (particularly a female undercover agent McKenna)
bode well. Future books in this series (of which there are some planned) might be a little more satisfactory with more interesting characters.
