Children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak's last book comes half-a-century after the publication of his much heralded Where the Wild Things Are. The author was an imaginative and inventive writer and dedicates this wonderful tale to his late brother, Jack, the person he cited as his main inspiration for writing and drawing.

Sendak marries his extraordinary art with compelling text that underlies the bond between brothers:

"And Guy sank upon a couch of flowers
In an ice-ribbed underworld
Awash in blossoming gold from a new sun
Tumbling out dark long-ago clouds,
Its caverns and corridors paved with painted petals
Wound round a wild cherry tree dusted pink."
The imagery is startling and wondrous and will amaze you all over again with just how unique and unequalled this writer is. The dramatic  surreal illustrations perfectly enhance his words. This is a fable for all ages and one that youngsters and oldsters alike will love.
