Atlantis has been depicted in movies as the great lost underwater civilization, a mythical place inhabited my strange creatures.
In this book, historian Gavin Menzies uncovers new information and reveals geological, archeological, and even DNA evidence in support of the existence of this watery empire.
In his research,
Menzies establishes the location of the once-thought imaginary kingdom on the Greek island of Santorini, a central hub of the ancient Minoan civilization. Some of the other revelations:
- Threethousand years before Christopher Columbus sailed to North America, the Minoans were already mining and exporting copper via the Mississippi River.
- Somewhere around 1500 BCE, a monstrous volcanic eruption all but erased what is now present-day Santorini. An apocalyptic tsunami was generated that destroyed Minoan cities throughout the Mediterranean.
- Documents written in the highly guarded Minoan language Linear A have recently been decoded and corroborate the author's astounding
assertions.
The Lost Empire of Atlantis is a fascinating book. Whether you believe in Atlantis or not, this will provide you with hours of pleasure.
