Author Marc Roberty has delved deeply into the archives, files, and reviews of
Led Zeppelin to create this wonderful day-by-day diary of the band's
history. The book covers pre-Zep history, when Jimmy Page was still playing
with the Yardbirds in late 1968, through December 2007, when the three
remaining members--Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones--reunited
for the Ahmet Ertegun (the man who signed them to their first record deal)
tribute show.
Every show the band ever performed is included here, including notes about
the concert culled from reviews and even specific set lists. Additionally,
the album release history of the band is covered in the form of incisive
notes about the various recording sessions, which includes information about
the studios; specific tracks; and even anecdotal insights provided by
producers, engineers and the band themselves in the form of interviews.
This is a copiously-researched book and beautifully complemented with an
array of terrific photos, scans of albums covers, and memorabilia and live
shots.
