How does grilled chicken and baked potatoes sound for dinner tonight? It probably sounds pretty tasty, except when you have had it night after night since your parents' death. The problem is that it is the only meal that oldest brother Randall Beiler knows how to cook. Levi Beiler has come up with an idea, but he has to be sure that his two participants are ready to sit down and discuss this opportunity to solve their problems. Randall Beiler broke Elizabeth's heart when they were a courting couple years ago. Randall felt that as the oldest, he needed to devote all his time and attention to his younger siblings while neglecting the longings of his heart.

The once-brokenhearted Elizabeth Nolt is Levi's solution to the lack of variety in his family's diet--she's a great cook! Levi sees it also as a chance to help her out financially. She is too proud to just take money or have someone else take care of her. She is struggling to make enough money for her and her aging grandmother to live, so Levi hatches the plan to have Elizabeth come and be a cook and housekeeper for the Beiler family. As each of the other brothers have found wives and moved out to grow their own families, it's becoming more and more difficult for them to deal with a younger sister who needs a female role model in her life. Randall and Elizabeth aren't sure: is this the answer to any problems, or will it create more of them? Spending more time together may be just what they need. Perhaps there can be some joy in their lives before they grow too old to enjoy it.

Joyful is the third book in the "Return to Sugar Creek" series" but could easily stand on its own. There is also another inspiring storyline about letting your heart open to love in this book. Judith and Ben have become foster parents to Kendra's son, James, while she deals with being separated from him. Just when things start looking brighter for the families and Kendra, another setback ensues. I really enjoyed this additional story line in this book. True love doesn't always have to be in bloodlines. If you are looking for a heartwarming story of second chances and the potential of being positive role models for others, add a little joy to your life and add Joyful to your collection today!
