May Pang

May Pang, personal assistant to John Lennon and Yoko Ono, spent a wild weekend with the ex-Beatle back in 1973. Yoko actually approached Pang to "keep John company," which was probably some sort of code to "keep an eye on him." Well, she did, and that eye was glued to the lens of a camera.
Here, you can see the results of the hours May spent with John. There is some terrific stuff here:
- photos of Lennon with then 10-year-old-son, Julian Lennon
- pictures of John cavorting in Long Island Sound
- outtakes from recording sessions for Rock 'n' Roll and Bridges
- the only shots of the former Beatle signing the legal documents that would forever split up the Fabulous Foursome.
It's a beautiful book and contains both black-and-white and color shots. While Pang may not be Jim Marshall or Neil Zlozower, she does have the advantage that intimicacy between shooter and subject always brings to a snapshot.
