This beautiful collection of hip-hop influenced art appearing on album covers, alcohol bottles, cars, and sneakers features more than 200 full-color images from the field's leading artisans, including Dapper Dan, Buddy Esquire, Spike Lee, Snoop Dogg, Mr. Cartoon, and many others.

DEFinition addresses the history of this genre as it sprang from the urban streets of Harlem and the Bronx in New York. Through various essays and historical pieces written by a variety of cultural observers, the merging of the visual and the audio is given focus and fully explained. There is everything in here, from the $2,500 sneaker to to the rise of black moguls like Puff Daddy and Jay-Z.

And, even if you don't like to read, the photos/illustrations alone are worth the cover price.
