Everything you ever wanted to know about Deep Purple's classic In Rock album is contained
within these pages. Authors Simon Robinson and Stephen Clare's extensive
research dredges up and uncovers every fact associated with the release of this remarkable album.
Simon Robinson lays out the premise for the book. This book documents the story of the album's evolution during a period of upheaval within the group. Early - and impressive - American success proved to be short lived and had not been repeated back-home, leading to tough internal decision...Various aspects of the In Rock story have been documented over the years in interviews, articles, books, liner notes, etc the aim here has been to bring all this together for the first time and expand the story with new material and research to give a complete and detailed narrative of this important phase of Deep Purple's career.
Indeed, this book does all that and much more. Copious notes on the recording of
the seven songs include the evolution of the songs as they were performed live. Everything from the lyrics, musical equipment employed [guitars, amps, drums] and studio sessions to the various pressings and chart positions are
thoroughly detailed.
This wonderful book delves well into the minutiae of In Rock. Any Purpleophile out there will love this book.
If you have In Rock in your album collection, you'll want to read this to
completely appreciate the magic in those grooves.
