Ostensibly, Summer Mulvaney is the new nanny for Assistant D.A. Cara O’Connor’s two daughters. In reality, she’s an FBI agent sent to protect Cara and her family from danger due to both a high-profile case as well as her upcoming nuptials with Senator Winslow, a man well on the road to the presidency. Summer soon discovers that a nanny’s life is subject to far more ups and downs, tricks and troubles than any she’s ever experienced in the line of duty.

But more than the girls, it’s the gardener Gabe Morgan who captures her unwitting interest, with both his unabashed sex appeal and concealed air of danger. Gabe is equally intrigued by the new nanny with the kick-ass and prickly hands-off attitude. Ignoring as best as possible the overwhelming sexual pull between them, both of them strive to work and perform their duties even as the nature of the game becomes deadlier by the day. Who is the cause of this danger; why is Cara suddenly reluctant to go ahead with the marriage? Does the younger girl Sophy truly posses some extraordinary talents, and how long can Summer and Gabe the passion ever-simmering between them – the answers all lie within this sizzling tale!

With a rare combination of excellent storytelling skills and breathless pace, Christina Skye captivates readers with Code Name: Nanny, an action-adventure story with a strong emotional core. Not only do the characters all feel real with their individual struggles, but the overall story which partly revolves around conflict arising from dedication to duty feels utterly convincing. The familial drama between Cara, her children and Tate plays an active role in the story’s development. But it’s the interpersonal dynamics between two strong characters like Summer and Gabe that grabs the reader’s attention. Whether it’s the simmering passion, mutual distrust or emotional support, this unstoppable pair goes at it with gusto. Some other serious issues are touched upon and dealt with subtly but admirably. And thanks to Skye’s adept handling of this complex tale, the suspense is maintained til the satisfying end. To sum it up, this savvy, entertaining saga is fast, polished and a rousing adventure not to be missed.

Note: Coming in September 2004 is the next story in this series, Code Name: Princess, featuring Jess, Summer’s sister.
